less of me..

less of me more of Him to be reflected in and through me. I choose to be broken in the essence of being rebuilt into the image of Christ. =)

Wait for the Best

Wait for the Best

Don't flirt with lower lovers—save yourself for the King.
Finding Favor with the King, p. 86

Scripture Reading
First Corinthians 6: 15-20, our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. We are to glorify God in our bodies and our spirits, which belong to Him.
Wait for the best .

In recent years the nationwide “True Love Waits” campaign has inspired thousands of young people to pledge to remain sexually pure until marriage. Sexual purity is a major moral and social issue in our culture today. Aside from preventing unwed pregnancies and sexually-transmitted diseases, abstinence also spares young people the moral guilt associated with inappropriate sexual activity.

Paul said, “Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.” We have physical, moral and spiritual reasons to remain sexually pure. It is important to save ourselves for the marriage partner to whom we will commit ourselves for life.

As Christians, we are also to save ourselves for our King. In this sense, however, we are not talking about sexual purity but spiritual purity. We are to love and commit ourselves to God alone. He deserves and demands our undivided faithfulness. This is what Paul is saying in the next couple of verses: “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's .”

Throughout the Bible, and particularly in the Old Testament, unfaithfulness to God is called spiritual adultery . Being spiritually unfaithful is as great an offense to God as being sexually unfaithful is to a spouse. God said, “You shall have no other gods before Me.” Jesus provided additional insight when He said, “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”

Everywhere you go you are surrounded by voices and influences that tempt you to trade your faithfulness to God for some lesser pleasures. These may appear quite alluring and appealing at the time, but don't be fooled. Whenever you “flirt with lower lovers” you end up disappointed because they never deliver what they promise. You were created for the King, He alone will satisfy your deepest longings and desires.

Don't trade your future joy and fulfillment for lesser pleasures now. Wait for the best. Save yourself for the King. Commit yourself completely to the Lord who loves you and gave Himself for you. The world will entice you with many things but only the King will satisfy. Don't settle for lower lovers. Wait for the best!

Prayer: Lord, when the things of the world tempt me to stray, help me remember that You alone satisfy. I want to be completely Yours. You are the best, and I will wait for You. I will wait for the Prince you have for me your princes. Clothe me with strength and purity that I might not be shaken nor moved for what you don't call it for me. Amen
